Gooding Playground Construction

After almost two years of planning and fundraising, the playground at Gooding’s East Park is ready for construction. Beginning on Tuesday, October 25th, volunteers will gather to build a custom designed playground next to the Gooding Pool. This project will take five days and 100’s of volunteers. To sign up for one or more shifts, goto Gooding Community playground on FaceBook and follow the link to SignUp.com. You can also contact Heather at 308-0292 (three work shifts are available each day - 8 a.m. to 12, 12:30 to 5, and 5:30 to 9 p.m.)

This project will also require lots of tools. Since this is a completely volunteer built project, the organizers are asking area residents to donate the use of tools such as handsaws, electric saws, drills, hammers, paint brushes, clamps, extension cords, generators, gloves, lights (for night work), shovels, wrenches, wheelbarrows, and lots more. For a complete list of needed tools contact the Tools Coordinator, Jeannie Anderson, at 539-9500. They also need equipment such as backhoes, a Bobcat, a 50’ to 100’ crane, and two boom auger trucks. The Gooding Commu-

nity Playground committee would like to give a special thank you to Ridley’s Family Market & Sliman & Butler Irrigation for becoming Partners of the Park ($20,000). Thank you as well to Glanbia & the City of Gooding for being Lifetime Supporters ($10,000). Because of the overwhelming support for this project, the organizers have been able to add additional components: a playhouse, a dragon slide, and a tire swing. If you would like to sponsor one of these additions, please contact Becca Pereira at 539-5403. Wanted: Local artists to help with design & details.
