Busy Weekend in Southern Idaho
Whether you love rodeo, cowboy poetry, or cars, there is something for everyone across our area this weekend. Hagerman’s Annual “Blast on the Grass” Car Show in the Hagerman City Park is this Saturday, September 19th, starting with breakfast at the American Legion Hall at 7:00 a.m. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in the park. This Friday and Saturday, the Lost N Lava Cowboy Gathering will be at the Lincoln County Community Center in Shoshone with free Day Shows starting at 1 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday. Evening Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. each evening with pre-show at 6:30. The Gooding Pro Rodeo begins this Thursday, September 17, and continues through Friday and Saturday starting at 8:00 p.m. each evening. No tickets will be available at the gate. So, stop by Gooding Valley Wide Country Store or online at goodingprorodeo.com. As of Tuesday morning, there were still tickets available, but they are going fast.
Faulkner Sheep & Goat Allotments Analysis
FAIRFIELD, IDAHO - The Faulkner Group 1 Sheep and Goat Allotments Analysis Environmental Assessment (EA) has been completed. The allotments consist of the Salt-Bowns, Boardman, Beaver, Kelley Creek, North Fork Lime Creek, and Bremner-Middle Fork Sheep and Goat Allotments. These six allotments cover approximately 86,000 acres of the Sawtooth National Forest and are located roughly 15 miles northwest of Fairfield, Idaho. The Responsible Official who will issue a decision on this project is Marty Gmelin, Fairfield District Ranger. The EA, draft Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact (DN/FONSI), legal notice of opportunity to object, and other information are available for review at the Fairfield Ranger District office or at the project’s website at: www.fs.usda.gov/ project/?project=47678. The proposed project is subject to the objection process pursuant to 36 CFR 218, Subparts A and B and must meet all of the requirements of 36 CFR 218.8. Eligibility to File Objections: Objections will be accepted only from those who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project either during scoping or other designated opportunity for public comment in accordance with § 218.5(a) and §219.16. Issues raised in objections must be based on previously submitted timely, specific written comments regarding the proposed project unless based on new information arising after designated opportunities. Individual members of organizations must have submitted their own comments to meet the continued on page 2... requirements of eligibility as an individual.

Air Pollution Forecast
On Monday, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) extended its Air Pollution Forecast & Caution, to notify residents of Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls Counties of degraded air quality. NOTE: air quality is likely to change drastically with slight changes in weather conditions and fire behavior, and may improve temporarily with daily weather patterns. The pollutant of concern is Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5). Due to wildfire smoke health impacts may occur, BURNING RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT. Air quality is currently in the unhealthy for sensitive groups (those with heart and lung disease, older adults, and children) and is forecast to be in the moderate to unhealthy for Sensitive Groups categories. When air quality is unhealthy, sensitive persons may experience health effects and should limit prolonged or heavy exertion and limit time spent outdoors. The general public is unlikely to be affected. There is a voluntary burn ban for residential wood burning activities such as heating. All outdoor open burning is prohibited by the Department of Environmental Quality in accordance with the Rules for the Control of Air Pollution in Idaho (IDAPA 58.01.01.550).
