News Gooding Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program at the Goodng Library was a rousing success! There were over 400 industrious readers who took part in the programs offered, and boy did they read! The children and teen groups have been reading up a storm. Each time they completed a book, the kids were given a marble to add to the Library’s marble jug. In just two months that 3.5 gallon jug is almost half full! Our goal is to totally fill the jug by Christmas, so let’s keep up the good work and keep reading. The adult readers sub-

mitted short reviews of the books they read and added them to a display on the “new books” shelf; stop by and get a home town review of what to read next. Try Something New: Have you ever listened to an audio book? The Library has a large collection of books on CD, perfect for listening to in the car or while working in the shop/ kitchen/craft room. Audio books are checked out for two weeks and while most are on CDs there are also some on cassette tapes. Starting in September: Coding class on Mon-

days at 4pm; Maker Event on Tuesdays at 4pm; Little Folks’ Reading Time (03 year olds) Wednesdays at 10:30am; Elementary Readers’ Group Wednesdays at 4pm; Story Hour (4 & 5 year olds) Thursdays at 10am; STEAM activity on Thursdays at 4pm; Fun Friday Events at 2:30pm. There are lots of happenings at the Library, stop by and pick up a calendar or read our blog at https://gooding.lili.org Please consider donating your empty aluminum cans to the Library, the proceeds are used to purchase new books and materials.

Let’s Talk About It

The Camas County Public Library is having a very special reading program available to the public at no charge. The theme of this reader’s group is Living in the Modern Rural West and there are five books (15 copies each) that can be read and discussed starting now and going into spring. One really great thing about this program is a scholar will come to lead a discussion group about each book. The first book is Hole in the Sky by William Kittredge and is available for check out at the library now. The library has a great display set up with information available for anyone that would like it.
