Trinity Ridge US Bank Helps Local Organizations Fire Update: As of Tuesday, August 21st, the Trinity Ridge Fire near Pine & Featherville was just over 90,000 acres and only 5% contained. The main goal of the 1200 fire fighters currently on this fire is protect the nearly 500 buildings in the Pine/ Featherville area. Some backfires have been set, but the potential for thunderstorms and gusty winds last night made that a risky tool in the short term. Beyond protecting homes and other buildings, containment is not expected until the middle of October. That means there will be a lot of smoke in the air for at least another month or so. The area from Featherville to Paradise is under an evacuation order, and the Pine Featherville Road is closed to all but fire and emergency traffic. An evacuation center has been set up by the Red Cross at the Pine Senior Center and the Pines Resort. The Trinity Ridge Fire started on Friday, August 3rd. The suspected cause is a utility vehicle that caught fire along a roadway.
