Bowling Gooding County Fair & Rodeo In Shoshone
Winter bowling leagues are now forming at Mountain View Lanes in Shoshone. Men’s League will be held every Tuesday night with a Fun Night on August 28th at 7:30 p.m. First regular league night is September 4th at 7:30 p.m. For Tuesday league information, call Doreen Irving at 593-5086. Women’s League will be every Wednesday night. Their Fun Night will be August 29th 7:00 p.m. and their first regular league night is September 5th at 7:00 p.m. For Wednesday league information, call Bert Gage at 420-6552. Friday nights are Mixed League. Fun Night for this group is August 31st at 7:30 p.m. Regular Mixed League bowling will begin September 7th at 7:30 p.m. Call Carole Sturgeon (7312271) for mixed league information. Youth Bowling League (ages 4 to 20) begins Saturday, October 7th, at noon. Sharon Dick (420-6462) has all the information you need to get started in this exciting sport that will last a lifetime! Back to School
Next week, kids will be heading back to the blackboards and books. Many of them will be walking along our streets, sometime early in the morning.

The Gooding Main Street Parade is this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. Line-up for the parade begins at 4 p.m. near the College of Southern Idaho Round Building (14th and Main). There is no charge to be in the parade. Family night at the carnival will commence right after the parade with $1 rides, while the kids play, the arena will host PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding at 8:00 p.m. PRCA Rodeo events will roar to life Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Following the rodeo, the fairground bandshell will host live music. The Tough Enough to Wear Pink Lunch will be held on Friday, August 17th, and the Idaho Cowboy Reunion Lunch will take place on Saturday. Both lunches will be at noon in the Commercial Building. On Saturday, August 18th, the 4-H/FAA Market Animal Sale will get underway at 10:00. Come out and support our youth. If livestock is not your thing, this year the arena will host a Drone Rodeo at 10:00 a.m. Drone owners of all ages are invited to come race their flying machines through various obstacle courses. Sponsored by the Gooding Youth Association. Fair week will wrap up on Sunday, August 19th, at 9:00 a.m. in Commercial Building with fellowship, music, and a special “Cowboy” message with Scotty Brown, and Justin & Mindi Palmer. End your week right and bring your family & friends to Cowboy Church.
Second Controlled Hunt Drawing for Big Game
Didn’t draw a tag in the first round? It’s not too late to apply for the second controlled hunt drawing for over 2,250 unclaimed, controlled hunt tags for deer, elk, pronghorn and bear. The application period for the second drawing runs from Aug. 10 through Aug. 17. A list of available tags by hunt number is available on the unclaimed and leftover tag page on Fish and Game’s website. Hunters can apply at Fish and Game license vendors, by telephone at 800-554-8685, online, or by mail. (All mailed entries must be postmarked no later than Aug. 17). The application fee is $6.25 for residents and $14.75 for nonresidents for each species. For information on rules and dates for specific hunts, consult the current big game seasons and rules brochure or the online version. Please note: Some hunts will be underway by the time the second drawing is completed and tags are available for sale. Results of the drawing will be available around Aug. 24. Any tags not drawn in the second drawing will be sold first-come, first-served August 27 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time.
