News Gooding County Fair & Rodeo
Tonight (August 13) is the Main Street Parade beginning at 7 p.m. The Leo & May Rice Memorial dedication will follow at 8:30, and don’t forget Family Night at the Carnival ($1 rides) and the Street Dance at the Sidetrack Bar. The first night of the Pro Rodeo (August 14) is also Family Night. Friday night is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” and the Saturday Rodeo is the 4-H Buyers Appreciation Night. The rodeo begins at 8:00 p.m. each evening, but there are lots of other things going on. So, come early, stay late. On Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. there will be a special rodeo for special children. The Rocky Mountain Excepional Rodeo introduces handicapped children to rodeo, and allows them to compete in their own rodeo with their own rodeo buddy to help them through the events. On Sunday, August 16th, come support the Caring Cowboys Calf Roping at 1:00 p.m. Caring Cowboys is non-profit group dedicated to preserving the West-
ern Lifestyle by conducting charitable activities and supporting local agricultrual charities, events, and people. The 4H and FFA Master Showmanship Contest will be held on Friday, August 15th, at 9 a.m. and the small animal Showmanship Contest will be held in the afternoon (1 p.m.). The Market Animal Sale will be Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and the Parade of Champions will take place at the evening rodeo.

is a creeping perennial vine native to Eurasia. It can grow from 0.3 to 2 m in length and often forms dense infestations consisting of one or more clones. Leaves are round to arrow-shaped 2.5 to 5.7 cm long and alternate along a prostrate stem. RELAY FOR LIFE
The goal of 2014 Gooding Relay For Life was lofty $40,000. On June 13th, 22 teams walk laps and 266 people signed up for a total amount of $40,445. Teams held fundraising bake sales, yard sales, a Bowl—A—Thon, a golf tournament, and a Poker Run that drew in 55 cars and motorcycles. Along with the food booths at the various events, and just asking family and friends for donations, the goal was fully met. Along with individual contributions, there were numerous businesses that helped the couse, including two local businesses that contributed over $1500. 24 businesses donated each $500, and 30 businesses and individuals donated $250 each. Relay For Life Chairperson, Susan Bolton said, “It takes EVERYONE to make this a successful event and we want to THANK EVERYONE for the help and support that was given.” Mrs. Bolton added a special thank you the Team Captains and team participants. “They are the ones that did the real foot work for this event.”
