This Thursday evening, the Camas County Fair will kick off a weekend of fun with the Bike Parade (5:45) to the City Park and the Carnival starting at 6:00 p.m. Make sure to stick around after dark for a FREE family/kid movie at the bandshell. Friday morning the 4H Archery shoot will be held at the Legion Baseball field (behind the Iron Mountain Inn) starting at 9:00 a.m. In the afternoon, stop by the school for a Car Wash by the Lady Mushers. Family Fair Night at the park will include a Corn Hole Tournament and live music by Dustin & the Rocky Mountain Riders. Saturday morning, the Camas Cheerleaders will serve breakfast starting at 7:00, perfect fuel before attending the 4H Livestock Show at 8:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., find your favorite place along Soldier Road for the Fair Parade led by Ken & Bonnie Cox Kenny Cox was raised on the Camas Prairie about 500 feet from where he and his wife Bonnie now reside. They meet for the first time on the San Juan Islands in Washington state during the summer of 1995. They dated for a year before parting company. 21 years later, they met again at a restaurant in Snowville, Utah, and were married on July 16, 2015 in the exact place at the exact date and time Kenny’s parents, Don and Doris. The two of them are often seen driving their horses around Fairfield or giving sleigh rides in the Winter. They both love calling the Camas Prairie home. Saturday afternoon, check out the Library Foundation Book Sale and Raffle. At 2:00, be sure to bid on some choice animals at the 4H Livestock Sale. At 6:30 the Bulls (and their riders) will entertain at the Rodeo Arena, followed by a Dance in the Park with Copperhead. On Sunday morning, the American Legion will be serving breakfast from 8 to 11 at the Legion Hall, and at 10:30 be at the City Park for some spiritual food with Church in the Park. The Community Church's new pastor, Mike Rice, will deliver a message for the soul along with gospel music by local musicians. -- -- -p Gooding County Fair Events. will be held August 13th thru 20th. Jr. Rodeo is August 13th but entries close July 29! Entry forms available at goodingprorodeo.com/jr-rodeo. The Gooding Pro Rodeo is August 17th thru 20th. Ticket sales will begin July 15th at the Gooding County Fair Office (201 Lucy Lane). Tickets will also be available online at tickets.goodingprorodeo. com (tickets will not be available at Valley County Stores this year). Prices are $16-$21 (adults) and $10-$11 (children). There will be no general admission seating.

New Lincoln County Magistrate Judge

The Fifth Judicial District Magistrates Commission has selected Brendan L. Ash as the new Lincoln County Magistrate Judge. Mr. Ash will replace the Honorable Mark A. Ingram, who retired July 15, 2022. The Magistrates Commission Chairman, Honorable Eric J. Wildman, announced the appointment and indicated that the commission had interviewed six highly qualified applicants seeking appointment. "Mr. Ash will be a great addition to Lincoln County and the entire Judiciary." Judge Wildman and the Magistrates Commission are confident that the people of Lincoln County will be well served by the appointee, Brendan L. Ash. Mr. Ash, 34, has been practicing law since 2014, and is currently the Assistant Public Defender for Gooding County. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in 2010 from the University of Idaho and his Juris Doctorate in 2014 from the University of Idaho. "Mr. Ash will serve Lincoln County with dignity, courage and integrity." Judge Wildman further complimented the Magistrates Commission for its thorough examination of the candidates and expressed the Judiciary’s appreciation for the contribution made by each member. Upon appointment, magistrates serve an 18-month probation period. After which, they stand for retention election in the county in which they are seated and, if retained, serve a term of four years.

Sage-grouse & Sandhill Crane Tags On Sale

By Roger Phillips, Public Information Supervisor Hunters wanting to hunt Sage-grouse or Sandhill cranes can now buy tags, both will be available in limited numbers on a first-come, first-served basis. Sage-grouse and Sandhill crane tags cost $22.75 each for residents and $74.25 for nonresidents.
