Lincoln County Wrap-up The 4-H’ers in Lincoln County wrapped up another year of livestock competition, and now it’s time to relax and let Camas County take over this weekend.

If you missed the many fun events, you can get a little taste of the excitement at couriernews.webs.com where we have posted a youtube of the parade.

Camas Horse Show & Gymkhana On Saturday, the Camas County “Silver Spurs” held their 4-H Horse Show and Gymkhana at the TNT Arena. This year’s show included one rider in the English Hunt competition, and five riders in the other events which include the new edition of six Gymkhana events. Gymkhana is an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses. The barrel race we see at rodeos is a gymkhana event, but there are many more like pole bending and speed ball. In the speed ball event, riders take off from the starting point with a golf ball in their hand. The goal is to see how fast they can put the ball into the top of a cone (without dismounting), and get back to the finish line. Besides being a lot of fun, gymkhana is designed to help younger riders learn horsemanship and agility. For a video of this year’s competition, go to couriernews.webs.com (click on “This Week”).
