Water Project Begins in Fairfield
Lincoln County Fair & Rodeo
Folks in Fairfield need to be extra careful as they travel around town. On Monday, excavation started on west Sage Avenue for the city’s water project. Over the next couple of months, they will be working in various areas around town, but an extra effort is being made to make sure the City Park area is finished before the Camas County Fair - August 1 thru 5. Later this fall, construction will begin on a new well and water tank at the Mill Park Subdivision (west side of town). In other news, the Fairfield City Council gave final approval to their new Sign Ordinance (#248) at last Thursday’s meeting. In a effort to elliminate abiguity, the new ordinance lists 43 definitions of signs and locations of signs, including billboards and animated/lighted signs to sandwich board and banners. For those who are considering putting up a sign, the city will be requring a permit “to erect, construct, reconstruct, structurally alter, or change the use of any sign, as defined...” in the ordinance. Prohibited signs include billboards and neon signs (unless neon tubes are used for indirect illumination of lettering). The new ordinance also lists a number of signs that are exempt. These include: traffic signs, political signs for specific elections, real estate and construction signs (unlighted and temporary), flags, event signage, murals, etc. For a complete copy of Ordinance 248, go to the Fairfield City Office.
