Real Estate Trends At the Gooding Chamber meeting last Thursday, real estate experts from the Gooding area spoke about what they see happening in our area. With interest rates at a historical low, there has never been a better time to buy property. Yet, the housing market continues to limp along. To be certain, there are areas where people are buying real estate, but the overall market is disheartening. The problem is a lack of consumer confidence. People are concerned about a number of issues including unemployment, the economy, taxes, etc., and the uncertainty of these things is causing a lack of conficence in the future. This is particularly true when it comes to taking on a 20 or 30 year home loan. Mrs. Jensen from Jensen Real Estate in Hagerman said the election is having an affect on the market as well. During the last three or four Presidential elections, she has observed a significant slow down in the market during the months before the vote, and this year is no exception. On the positive side of things, the implication of this observation is that the real estate market will look better after the first of next year regardless of who is elected. Long term confidence, however, will depend on who wins. Another positive aspect of the real estate industry is that there are fewer forclosure properties on the market. These properties have been selling at rock bottom prices and that has kept market prices low. Fewer of these properties in the mix continued on page 3.....

Ladybugs in Gooding In the small green building on the northeast corner of 3rd and Main Street in Gooding a new business has sprouted up with unique items from local artists. Professional hand-made quilts, antique and reclaimed furniture, Nature’s Best soaps & hand lotions, Home Sweet Homemade jams & jellies, tutus for children, jewelry, hair bows, antler fire starters, metal sculptures by Jacob Novinger, and much more are just a few the treasures you will find. Gooding Ranch Rodeo Fairfield Concert In the Park Fun Run & Walk June 30th June 29th & June 30th This weekend’s festivities at the Gooding County Fairgrounds begin on Friday with Stock Dog Trials at 8 a.m. Rodeo kicks off at 7 p.m. On Saturday, have breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and register for the Fun Run/Walk. At 10 a.m. enjoy the Draft Horse Show and at 2 p.m. cheer on the kids at the Stick Horse Rodeo. All Saturday afternoon you can sample Dutch Oven Cooking and listen to Cowboy Poetry & Music. The Ranch Rodeo will continue at 7 p.m. and there will be a carnival on both days.
This Saturday, the City of Fairfield will be celebrating Independence Day a little early with their Concert in the Park. Beginning at 3 p.m. local musicians will start the festivities in the Bandshell. At 6 p.m. Idaho’s own Gary & Cindy Braun will take the stage to entertain the crowd. At 9 p.m. things will heat up with Sweet Country Air. Food will be available in the park all evening, as well as a beer garden. The Fairfield City Park is located on the westside of town between Willow and Camas Avenue.
