Six Run for Lincoln County Sheriff
The requirements to be elected County Sheriff in the state of Idaho are nearly nonexistent. You must be 21, a U.S. citizen, reside in the county one year prior to being elected, and pay a $40 filing fee. After being elected you have to attend the “newly elected sheriffs’ school” sponsored by the Idaho sheriffs’ association (IC 34-618). Five years ago there was an effort to change the law to require POST Certification within one year of being elected Sheriff. Certification costs - about $8000 - could have been self-paid, or paid by the county after

He strongly believes that Law Enforcement officers need to be regularly seen in the community, not just in a car or... continued on page 6.....
Along with the Gooding Volunteer Group, the Camas County Senior and Community Center in Fairfield will participating in this year’s Idaho Gives. No matter where you live, senior centers are not what they used to be. They are dynamic places that offer exercise classes, volunteer headquarters, local meeting places, health clincs, art studios, and more. Senior centers also provide meals - some serve lunch three times a week while others are full time. Some (like the Camas Senior Center) serve breakfast five-days-aweek. And they are not just for “old” people. Maintaining these types of facilities requires dedicated volunteers, often the seniors themselves. The Camas Senior and Community Center would like to encourage you to participate in this year’s Idaho Gives project and suport their fundraising efforts. Sign on Tomorrow
