Primary Election F R A E May 15th I S

This year’s primary election is two weeks away. Besides the local races, there is a contested race for U.S. Representative for District 2. Mike Simpson, the current U.S. Rep., will face off against M.C. “Chick” Heileson for the Republican nomination. This the second run by Mr. Heileson (from Idaho Falls) for U.S. Rep. One of the main reasons for running is his belief that our economic and cultural problems are due to the government trying to solve too many of our problems. On the Democratic ticket, two individuals are running for District two U.S. Rep. - Jack Wayne Chappell from Buhl and Nicole LeFavour from Boise. Mr. Chappell calls himself a DINO (Dem in name only) and is a supporter of Chick Heileson. His main reason for running is to give Idaho voters a second opportunity to get rid of Mike Simpson, who he believes is a RINO (Rep in name only). Nicole LeFavour, a four-term Idaho State Senator for District 19 (north Boise), is well known for her opposition to last year’s education legislation and for her support of the “Add the Words” campaign (sexual orientation). LeFavour will be in Shoshone this Saturday from 10 to 12 at the Manhatten Cafe. --------------In addition to the primary election, three of our area school districts will be holding supplemental levy elections. Those school districts and the amounts they are asking for are:

After more than a year of being closed, the Fairfield restaurant at the corner of Highway 20 and Soldier Road is now open under new management. It took over a month of cleaning to get the building ready for customers, but Kevin Wear and his daughter, Toni Anne, turned on the open sign for Casey’s Depot on Monday of this week.

When asked if they are offering anything special, Mr. Wear said, “Everything on the menu is available all day long. If you want a burger for breakfast, we’ll cook it up. If you want bacon and eggs for lunch, you’re in luck.” Casey’s Depot is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. 7 days-a-week. And don’t forget to try their homemade pies.
