News Body Art comes to Wendell
They can be simple and cute, complex and sleazy, or beautiful and mesmerizing. They are tattoos. The Skin Factory recently opened up in Wendell, Idaho, at 46 North Idaho offering everything you might desire in body augmentation. The owner, James Moore, has been putting ink on living canvas for ten years in Texas, but family brought him to Idaho where he decided to open his own shop to continue his artwork. To give customers plenty of choices in styles, James convinced 29 year veteran tattoo artist, Tommy Sturgis, to come join him. Tommy’s tattoos have been in Tattoo magazines all over the world. He is also the personal artist for INEGMA, as well as a celebrated realism artist. Tattoos use to be relegated to bikers and military men. Today, you see them on celebrities and politicians. What was once found only in sleazy back alleys, is now upscale and found in shopping malls next to high-end department stores.

The other thing that has changed about the tattoo business is the attention to safety. Most places, including the Skin Factory, have gone to single use (disposable) needles to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The ink they use is safer too, as well as being more stable - the colors are more vibrant and long lasting. Tattoos are not for everyone, and if you are drunk or otherwise influenced, don’t bother coming in. If you’re under 18, you’ll need a permission slip and a parent with you to get one. If you’d like a piece of artwork that will last a lifetime, give the Skin Factory a call at 536-9963 or stop by. They’re open 12 to 8 everyday except Wednesday.
