News Hagerman Pharmacy Opens
After two years of planning and over six months of getting the building ready, the Hagerman Valley Pharmacy opened its doors on Monday at the Frog’s Landing Complex in Hagerman (south end of town). The Hagerman Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new business with a ribbon cutting and the owners provided a free BBQ lunch for those who braved the windy weather. Hagerman Valley Pharmacy is a Telepharmacy operating as a satellite of the Wendell Pharmacy. Instead of driving up to Wendell, residents of Hagerman can talk to the pharmacist, Tony Rost, on a special live/interactive video system. Once that is done, the technicians (Carrie Belem and Debbie Edwards) will fill your prescriptions. Aside from the convenience of this service to Hagerman residents, telepharmacy reduces the cost of providing pharmaceutical services in lower populated areas. While not all areas can support this sort of business, it is a great opportunity to provide healthcare products to rural communities. The owner, Dr. Thomas Wadsworth, is the Assistant Dean for Alaska programs at Idaho State University in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences. He is also a partner with Tim Brown, the pharmacist at KJ’s Pharmacy in Twin Falls. Tom’s brother, Andrew Wadsworth, is the business manager at KJ’s (above photo: Andrew, Tony & Tim). Hagerman Valley Pharmacy is open 10 to 5, Monday thru Friday.

Lincoln County
Commissioner Selection Meeting
On Thursday, May 10th, the Lincoln County Republican Party Central Committee will hold a public meeting at the Lincoln County Courthouse to deliberate and determine the names of three nominees to be sent to Governor Otter to fill a vacancy on the Board of County Commissioners. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. Interviews of potential candidates will be conducted privately to provide confidentiality. After interviews and deliberations are completed, voting will take place to determine the ranking of each candidate being recommended. The list of nominees will be forwarded to the Governor’s office and he will have 15 days to appoint a person to become County Commissioner in District 1 for the remainder of the current term. Only Precinct Committeeman/Committeewomen may nominate or vote in this selection process. However, the Chairman of the Central Committee, Don Hudson, and the Precinct Committeeman for Precinct 1, Terry Zech, will not participate in these proceedings because they are both potential nominees. The Committee Vice Chair, Betty Peyman, will preside and conduct the proceedings and Cory Kneip, State Committeeman, will act as an alternate for Precinct 1 Committeeman. While the public is invited to observe the non-confidential portion of the proceedings and to hear the announcement of the results, public comments will not be allowed. If you would like more information about this process, contact the Lincoln County Republican Central Committee.
COLD WATER IS DANGEROUS
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) is urging all boaters and paddlers to wear life jackets. Air temperatures are forecasted to be in the 70s and 80s across the state later this week, however, water temperatures in rivers, reservoirs and lakes remain ice cold. In the last two months three people have died in Idaho from falling out of a boat into cold water. “One of the challenges in Idaho is that higher air temperatures in the spring can cause a false sense of security for boaters,” says David Dahms, state boating law administrator.
