Idaho Trivia 2018 Espresso Coffee Back in Wendell

Gooding Elementary School celebrated this year’s Idaho Day with an Idaho Trivia competition hosted by the GES Library. The competition covered Idaho history, geography, culture, and interesting facts about Gooding. Each participant received an Idaho potato pin from the Idaho Potato Commission. The winning team from each class received a blue rosette ribbon with a 3-D- printed Idaho in the center. In the final competition, both the first and second place team members each received an Idaho Spud candy bar. A team from Mrs. Curtis’s class won first place. Team members were Weston Callen, Eli Esterbrook, Bindi McConnell-Frost, Sean Ramsey, and Luke Schilder. Their names will be engraved on the Idaho plaque in the library. Mrs. Curtis accepted the Spuddy Buddy (the world renowned symbol of Idaho Potatoes) traveling trophy, which will be kept in her classroom for the year. Thanks to everyone who made the competition possible: the enthusiastic students, librarians, and teachers. Also, thanks to the PTA for the ribbons and the delicious cookie treats. Not pictured: Luke Schilder -- During its 2014 Session, the Legislature established an official IDAHO DAY to be observed each year on March 4th to commemorate the creation of Idaho by President Abraham Lincoln on that day in 1863. It will be the day when state and local agencies, historical societies, schools, Indian tribes, civic groups, chambers of commerce, clubs, the media, and Idaho citizens in general can celebrate and educate about Idaho, her culture, her history, her diversity, her beauty, her resources and her greatness.

Coffee is the fuel that keeps many of us going (or gets us started) in the morning. While some people are satisfied with any liquid that is black and hot, others require a bit more... finesse. At the north end of Wendell (next to Miller Brothers Collision) Shawna Dally has taken over the little drive-thru coffee shack and renamed it Idaho Street Espresso. Shawna’s goal is to make great coffee that will keep customers coming back for more. To that end, she is using Pacific Star coffee, a Northwest bean roaster out of the Seattle area. For those of you who like a little extra flavor, Shawna has a full line of Torani syrups to sweeten your experience. She also has the special ingredients for the ever popular White Chocolate Mocha. Idaho Street Espresso is open Monday thru Friday (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturdays from 8 to 3. Stop Wendell’s newest business at 630 North Idaho Street, or call in your order to 208-944-2573.
