News Richfield Girls Take Championship

This past weekend the Richfield girls turned their district win into another State Championship in 1AD2 Basketball. In the Northside Conference Tournament, the Richfield Tigers squeaked by Dietrich in the second round (40 to 39) and went on to beat Castleford in the championship game. Not being a team that quits trying, Dietrich went on to defeat Lighthouse (51 to 37), and Castleford (59 to 47) to take second place in the district tournament.

At the state tournament Championship, putting Dietrich again went up two Lincoln County teams against Castleford, and up for the final game. again defeated them (54 It was a tight game but to 46). Meanwhile, Rich- in the end Richfield came field took out Nez Perce out on top, winning the (41-30) and Mackay (41- 1AD2 Championship 48 32) to reach the State to 41.

NCMC Celebration

On March 2, 2010, the North Canyon Medical Center (NCMC) opened the doors to the new hospital at the south end of Gooding. While there have been a number of changes since the original opening, the commitment to serving the health care needs of Gooding and the surrounding area has remained the same. Next Monday, March 2nd, you are invited to the 5 Year Anniversary Celebration of the North Canyon Medical Center.

From 11:45 to 1:30 appetizers, featuring food from around the world, will be served and at 12:15, Gooding Mayor Walt Nelson will be the guest speaker. This event is open to the public and no RSVP is needed. If you desire more information, please call 208-934-8829. The weather will be cloudy with a slight chance of snow/rain over the next few days, but Monday is expected to be sunny and cold. So, be sure to dress warmly.

Sign-Up For Hunter Ed. NOW

Every autumn as the leaves begin to change, thousands of Idahoans begin to focus on one thing: heading to the back country to hunt. If you are new to hunting, you must first complete a hunter education course. Far too often, new comers learn that they have waited too long to sign up, and finding a class is difficult. “Seating is limited and classes fill quickly,” said Hunter Education and Recruitment Manager, Brenda Beckley. “Get signed up in a course early. Don’t wait until fall.” By state law, Idahoans born on or after January 1, 1975 must attend and successfully complete a hunter education course before purchasing an Idaho hunting license or provide proof that they held a valid hunting license in another state. For aspiring young hunters, we recommend the traditional instructor-led course. These classes are taught over a two-week period by volunteer instructors.
