Wendell’s Pizza Restaurant Moves to New Location
Over the last several year, the building at 379 South Idaho in Wendell has gone through a number of changes. From a repair shop, to gas station/convenience store, to restaurant, to coffee house, and now it has settled into the pizza business. During the last month, workers have been remodeling the inside of the building in preparation for a new/old business Papa Kelsey’s Pizza & Subs. The owner, Cheryl Gines, said she was happy with their old building on Main Street, but the opportunity to move to a larger building with better visibility to traffic was too good to pass up. While the location and the decor may be new, the food is still the great pizza and subs you’ve come to expect. Of course, the new location requires something new on the menu. For those of you who avoid pizza (and other things) because of gluten intolerance, Papa Kelsey’s now has a full line of sandwiches and pizzas served on Gluten-Free Flat Bread. Papa Kelsey’s has been a proud part of Wendell for 29 years, and 5 years ago Mrs. Gines purchased the business to continue that service of feeding hungry farmers, regular people, and travelers in the Wendell area.

State Tournaments Off and Running
The Dietrich Blue Devil Girls went into the 1AD2 District Tournament in third place behind Carey and Lighthouse Christian, but that didn’t stop them from taking the District Championship. They beat Richfield (48-28), Lighthouse (5346), and Carey (42-35) to win a spot at this year’s state tournament. The state tournament was not as kind, and they suffered two consecative losses to Sho-Ban and Tri-Valley. Shoshone took their District Championship as well, with a 50-18 victory over Hagerman and a 33-30 win over Oakley in the 1AD1 Snake River Tournament. At the state tournament, Shoshone’s first game was a blowout 47-9 victory over Ambrose. The second game put them up against Prairie and gave them a disapointing loss - 38 to 51. That sent them to the third place game and nailbiter with Lapwai that ended with Lapwai winning 52 to 50.
