News New Project for Gooding Volunteers

Thanks to the Gooding Volunteer Group (GVG), the Lions Park across the street from North Valley Academy has new playground equipment. Now GVG is ready for a new project at Gooding’s East Park. With some pieces of equipment about 30 years old, the playground at Gooding’s East Park (next to swimming pool on Illinois Street) has been wearing down. The equipment is in need of replacement and the Gooding Volunteer Group, along with a core group of individuals, has teamed up to make this dream a reality. The new playground will be custom-designed to make it unique to Gooding. Also, with over 500 children in the Gooding County community with special needs, this new facility will have

approval of the American Disability Association. Handicap accessibility and components for children with a wide range of disabilities will make East Park a place where all children can enjoy outdoor recreation. You can help this project by becoming sponsor, adopting a playground component, or by buying an engraved picket for the border fence. Sponsorship opportunities include: Partner of the Park $20,000; Life-

time Supporter $10,000; Platinum, $5,000; Gold, $2,500; Silver $1,000; and Bronze $500. You can adopt a component by choosing from 34 different pieces of equipment. Pickets are $50 for the first one and $25 for the second (buy as many as you like). Please keep in mind that all donations are tax deductible. You can find more information about the project on the Gooding Community Playground facebook page.

Workforce Development In Fairfield

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, only about a third of U.S. jobs require any post-secondary education and less than a quarter of U.S. jobs require a bachelors degree or more. Still, well over two-thirds of high school graduates continue to enroll in college. This has left our nation with 100’s of thousands of college graduates who can not find a job (and with no way to pay off their student loans). Meanwhile, many industries are struggling to find skilled workers to fill 100’s of thousands job openings across the nation. In an effort to help solve this problem, the City of Fairfield and the Camas County School District, along with several local businesses, have joined together to create a Makerspace Lab and training facility in Fairfield, Idaho. On February 1st, 2016, the group received a $25,000 micro-grant from Idaho Workforce Development. As part of the grant agreement, each member of the group will provide in-kind continued on page 4.....
