Don Hudson Ends Campaign for Representative

Press Release Don Hudson of Lincoln County announced this week that he will be stepping down from the race for the Idaho House of Representatives Seat 26B, and endorsed Alex Sutter to succeed him in seeking to represent District 26. Service to God, Country and family has been Don Hudson’s guiding focus for all of his adult life. From Don Hudson serving as a Boy Scout Leader, for 50 + years, or serving as a founder and President for the Volunteer Fire Department, or serving as Commander for the Search and Rescue unit, or saving a County’s deteriorating historical records, or working for years to learn the Constitution and workings of State Government, or to prepare and run for a seat in the legislature. Whatever the community has asked of him, he has done it with a cheerful heart, dedication and commitment to the very best of his ability. Alex Sutter continued on page 7.....

Open House - Fairfield Ranger District

The Fairfield Ranger District of the Sawtooth National Forest is proposing to implement a variety of vegetation modifications and prescribed burning treatments over a ten year period in the Salt Creek/ Bowns Creek and Fleck Summit area. The goals of the Salt Bowns Vegetation Management Project are: 1) maintain and restore the health of forested stands in response to current insect and disease levels; 2) maintain and restore the declining

whitebark pine communities; 3) enhance and restore habitat for wildlife species of concern in old Douglasfir forest; and 4) reduce the amount of vegetative fuel loading to lower the fire regime condition class. The Open House will be in Fairfield at the Camas County Senior Center from 5 to 7 p.m. on February 4, 2016. The Senior Center is located at 129 Willow Ave West, Fairfield, Idaho. Representatives from the Fairfield Ranger District will be in attendance to talk to the

public about the project’s objectives. “We’re very excited about this project. The open house is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about what we’re proposing,” according to Mike Dettori, Fairfield District Ranger. “We’re encouraging folks to come to the open house to discuss the project with Specialists and to give their feedback.” If you have any questions about the open house please contact Lyn Snoddy at 208-737-3246.

Skier Killed at Soldier Mountain

Camas Sheriff Dept. News Release On Saturday January 30th, at approximately 11:18 a.m., the Soldier Mountain Ski Area called Camas County dispatch stating that a young female had struck the side of a restroom building while skiing towards the base of the resort. Soldier Mountain Ski Patrol was providing medical attention to the girl who was unconscious and not breathing. They requested Camas County EMS and Life Flight to assist. Taylor Biggs, a 14—yearold freshman from Twin Falls High School, was wearing a helmet. Other events leading up to the accident are unknown. Medical personnel performed life saving measures and were able to revive her. She was flown to Boise where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The Soldier Mountain Ski Area as well as the responding agencies wish to convey their condolences to her family and friends.
