Zions Bank Awards Gooding Student For ‘A’ Grades Local teen recognized with regional scholarship
Hard work in school has paid off for Gooding High 12th grader Riley Comstock, who received a $100 scholarship savings account as a regional winner of the winter drawing through Zions Bank’s Pays for A’s program. Pays for A’s rewards local students for scholastic success. Vern Eames, manager of the Zions Bank Gooding branch, surprised Comstock with her win during a classroom presentation on December 20th. Comstock was entered into the drawing by bringing her report card to Zions Bank and was paid for every “A” she received. More than 1,600 students entered the winter drawing. “In this era of smart phones and digital distractions, it takes extra attention and effort to earn high marks, so we’re proud to recognize the achievements of students like Riley through the Pays for A’s program,” says Eames. “Our goal is to help students focus on schoolwork and motivate them to earn good grades.” Nearly a third of teens say they sometimes or often lose focus in class because they are checking their cell phones, a 2018 Pew Research Center survey found. And 40 percent of high school students are chronically disengaged from school, according to George Washington University’s Center on Education Policy. Over the past 15 years, Pays for A’s has rewarded thousands of students for working hard in school. Students ages 12 to 18 can participate by bringing their most current term-end report card into any Zions Bank location. Students do not need a Zions Bank account to participate. They’ll receive $1 per “A” deposited into their savings account, or 50 cents per “A” if they opt for cash. For each “A” on their report cards, students are entered into a drawing to win one of 150 regional scholarship prizes each worth $100 and one grand prize worth $1,000 in each state. Over-Snow Vehicle Travel On the Fairfield Ranger District
The Fairfield Ranger District has reached a decision on a proposed action regarding Over-snow Vehicle Travel Management in the Northern Portion of the Fairfield Ranger District. Following the public comment period and analysis by an Interdisciplinary Team, Fairfield District Ranger Mike Dettori has signed the decision to implement the Proposed Action - Alternative 2.
