News Gooding County ICF Grants
This past week the manager, Janice Jacobson, Kings Variety Store in Gooding handed out three Idaho Community Foundation grant awards to local nonprofit organizations. The Wendell Senior Center received $2000 to help provide comfortable seating in their new building which recently opened across from the Wendell City Hall. This will help them maintain the high quality music experience this performing arts organization is known for. Fairfield’s Shelterbelt Project Gets Help From Idaho Power
Earlier this year, a shelterbelt project was started to help protect the Camas Medical Services building and the emergency helipad from wind blown dust and snow. This project was started when Wes Fields expressed concerns and offered to donate trees. On Monday of this week, Idaho Power representitive, Dan Olmstead, braved the winter storm to present a $2000 check to the Camas Conservation District (CCD). This puts the funding for the shelterbelt project at 87% with only $800 left to raise. The main water lines have been installed to the location and next spring the City of Fairfield will work on putting in the alterial lines to water a half dozen rows of trees which will include dogwood, juniper, etc. Dan Olmstead said this was an unusual project for Idaho Power to fund.
