Christmas Music Ringing Out All Over Starting this Thursday, December 5th, schools around our area will be performing their annual Christmas concerts. In some parts of the country “Christmas Concerts” are becoming a thing of the past partly because of fallacious religious arguments, and partly because people have lost interest in simple entertainment. Too many of us would rather sit at home and watch Lady Gaga and the Muppets torture the holiday season. There is no escaping the fact that Christmas is a religious holiday, but it has also had great historical impact on our nation and the world. Over the centuries, this holiday has brought out the best in people, been the birth of countless traditions, caused soldiers to pause in the middle of war, and inspired great musical compositions. For our children, Christmas concerts are a unique experience where they have the opportunity to share what they are learning with the community. Certainly, putting on a event of any kind with children can have its unhappy moments, but the good memories will last a lifetime.
