Wendell Cowboy on the Road to Recovery Trot For TJ

In early October, Kirk Webb from Wendell, was out chasing cows when his horse stumbled and rolled over on top of him. Kirk was transported to Boise and the initial exam at the hospital held very little hope for his survival due to severe head trama. Then, a miricle happened. Kirk slowly regained consesnes and proved the original prognosis wrong. Today he is at Elk Rehab in Boise learning to walk again, as well as all the physical things most of us take for granted. Besides being a well known ranching family, the Webbs have have been involved in college and professional rodeo for over fifty years starting with Kirk’s father, Tom Webb who passed away last year. Kirk’s college years took him to Rexburg and Bozeman, Montana, where he was

part of the men’s team that won the 1975 National Championship. Since then Kirk has been a regular competitor on the professional currcit with team roping. Kirk’s two sons, Dan and Rob, have continued the family tradition by attending college on rodeo scholarships. Stevia Webb (Kirk’s wife) said the family is emencly gratful for the support they have received from friends throughout the area. Mrs Webb was surprise at how many people from all walks of life who have encouraged her

and her family. So far health insurance has been covering this accident very well. Being members of LifeFlight was also extemely helpful and Mrs Webb was quick to say that everyone should be a member. There is high hope that Kirk will ride again, but recovery will be a long road. In the mean time, the Webb family has much to be thankful for.

Hagerman Takes Second 1AD1 Championship For the second time in three years, the Hagerman Pirates won the 1AD1 Championship. Hagerman came out strong in their game against the Troy Trojans scoring the first two touchdowns. The Trojans, however, didn’t intend to give the Pirates an easy win. They came back to take the lead by the end of the first half. Three pass intersception by the Trojans kept the game tight, but in the end the Pirates took the victory – 42 to 34.
