Veteran’s Day Programs We are all indebted to the sacrifices made by our veterans and their loved ones. Because of their willingness to serve, we are able to enjoy incomparable liberties here in the United States of America. ---------Shoshone: Tomorrow morning, November 8th, at 10 a.m. the Shoshone Schools will hold a special program to honor our veterans. The students, the PTO, and faculty and staff of the Shoshone School District wish to thank all our veterans and to invite them to this program. Veterans and guests are invited to remain after the program to enjoy refreshments as well. Special visitors from the Mountain Home Air Force Base will present the National Anthem, the Posting of Colors, and a Flag Folding Ceremony. Colonel Timothy Cook of the United State Air Force will be the guest speaker. The Shoshone Elementary Music Students will perform a number of songs in honor of the occasion and “Echo Taps” will be presented by Jack and Jon Nelsen. ---------Fairfield: American Legion Elmer Miller Post # 19 will hold their annual Veterans Day Service on Sunday, November 11th, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Fairfield, Idaho. A memorial service will also be held for Mr. Vern Ownbey. A luncheon following the services will be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary, at the Fairfield American Legion Hall, for all veterans and their families.

Gooding & Dietrich Move to Semi-Finals In high school football, both Gooding and Dietrich will be playing this weekend for a chance at the State Championship for their divisions. Last Friday, Dietrich creamated Castleford with a 70 to 22 win. On Saturday, November 10th, they will travel to Riggins to play Salmon River High School at 2 p.m. The winner of this game will face either Lighthouse Christian or Garden Valley. Gooding won another tight game last Friday over Teton with a 27 to 15 victory. They will host Shelley High School this Friday, November 9th, at 7 p.m. The winner of this game will go up against Timberlake or Fruitland for the 3A championship.
Cross Country Championships The Idaho High School Athletics Association Cross Country Championships were held on Saturday, October 27th at Hells Gate State Park. This was a 5k run and runners from all divisions competed on the same day. The Gooding Girls team took 5th in the 3A division with an average time of 21:46.82. Rachel Youren finished 2nd with 19:02.90, just 00:29.00 behind the first place runner from Sugar-Salem. Ashley Bullers finished 10th and Brittany Russell came in 15th. Other runners on the team include Alex Huber (51st), Liz Bellamy (55th), Amanda Richards (62nd), and Emily James (63rd). There were 67 runners in this division. Gooding sent two boys to compete in the championships as well. Eliseo Garcia finished 7th with a time of 16:58.60, and Carter Flora had a time of 18:00.00 to finish in the 35th position. In the 2A Boys division, the Dietrich team came in 14th with an average time of 19:20.68. Jacob Dalton placed highest with 38th place finish. His time was 17:57.60. Logan Porter came in with a time of 18:31.60 to give him the 62nd position. Other Dietrich runners were Aaron Smith (105), Kyle Perron (124), and Danny Howard (137). Other 2A runners from our area include Jordon Chapman from Wendell (42), Daniel Dailey from Hagerman (43), and Aaron Rooney from Hagerman (63). Madi Kelsey from Wendell came in 17th in the girls 2A division.
