Football This Thursday, the Dietrich Blue Devils will be in Arco for the quarterfinal game of the State 1AD2 Football Championship. Last weekend, Dietrich won their playoff game against North Gem with 40 to 20 victory. The Butte County/Dietrich game will begin at 6 p.m. On Saturday, November 4th, the Gooding Senators will host Kellogg for the 3A quarterfinal game at 1:00 p.m. Two weeks ago, the Senator clinched the SCIC District Championship with a 66 to 12 win over Buhl, and an 8/1 season. The final State Championship Football games will be played on November 17th & 18th. Soccer Always with a strong team, the Bliss Bears men’s soccer team won their first two games of the State 3A Championship against Sugar-Salem (2-1) and Snake River (4-1). In the Final game, the Bears faced off against Weiser, but had to settle for second place with a 2-1 loss. Volleyball The Dietrich Girls took the District Championship, but not without having to come back from a loss against Carey in the second round. In the final game, Dietrich took down Carey 3 to 0, and headed off the state tournament last weekend where they ended their season with two losses against Logos and Salmon River.

Last week North Canyon Medical Center (NCMC), in Gooding, was recognized as one of the Top 100 Private Companies in Idaho. This recognition is part of the Idaho Statesman’s annual Idaho Private 100 roundup which ranks Idaho companies based on annual revenue. As a first-time recipient, NCMC entered the list at 79. “We are honored to receive this prestigious award. Over the past several years we have worked diligently to expand our services, enhance our state-of-the-art facilities and continue to provide advanced care, close to home. I want to extend my deep gratitude to our employees, medical staff, board members and community members for making this happen,” stated CEO Tim Powers. The awards ceremony was held Wednesday, October 25th at the Boise Centre on the Grove where 100 Idaho businesses were represented and over 800 people were in attendance. A two-thirds supermajority is required to pass. The Hagerman Cemetery District (Hagerman and Bliss) is asking for a permanent override levy in the amount of $45,000 to begin October 1, 2018. The Hagerman Cemetery District maintains four cemeteries: two active sites (the Hagerman Cemetery and Upper Clover Creek Cemetery north of Bliss) and two inactive sites (the Pioneer Cemetery north).
