Music Parents Form Booster Group in Gooding
The Gooding Association of Music Parents (Gooding AMP) was created this year as a booster organization for the Gooding Music Program. The goal is to help provide more opportunities for music students in the Gooding community through fundraising and volunteer efforts. All funds raised by Gooding AMP will be used to purchase new music equipment and music, assist with travel expenses, give individual scholarships to music students, purchase and repair instruments, and much more! Gooding AMP is excited to see all the great things the new music instructor is doing for the Gooding Music Program. Mitchell Tilley came to Gooding in 2017 and since then he has restored many traditions -- one of the most exciting for the community is having the pep band (Red Thunder Band) back at our local games to display our Senator Pride loud and proud! He is also providing opportunities to the students that have not previously been available. Last May, Mr. Tilley took several music groups to Utah to compete in the Music in the Parks Festival. Every group had an award-winning performance and the Gooding Music Program walked away with five trophies. This year, choir groups will have the opportunity to attend VoicePlay: Live! Red Thunder Band students will attend the ISU Marching Festival, as well as marching band camp next June. As the Gooding Music Program continues to grow, they will need community support. Becoming a member of Gooding AMP is a great start, or you can become a sponsor and help provide the much needed funds to keep this program strong and healthy. You can also donate music equipment and other items to the program. To find out what they might need, contact the Gooding Music Program by sending a message to:

U.S. Highway 20 Closure This Week
Today and tomorrow (October 16th & 17th) the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is planning to close US-20 between mileposts 164 and 173 near Fairfield as crews pave the newly constructed Willow Creek and Rock Creek bridges. Closure is expected to begin at 11 a.m. and is anticipated to last approximately three hours each day. This is part of the Willow Creek Bridge and Rock Creek Bridge construction projects underway since April of this year. Crews replaced aging and corroded culverts with new bridge structures, which are expected to have a longer lifespan. It will also allow the streams in both locations to be restored to a more natural condition, which should have a positive effect on the surrounding ecosystem. “We are making every effort to minimize impacts to motorists in the region,” said ITD south-central Idaho Project Manager Brock Dillé. “With the unexpected drop in temperatures this past month, we have a very narrow window to complete work on these structures. Briefly closing the highway will allow us to work more efficiently, and hopefully prevent us from having to return to the area next year to complete the project.” ITD will place barricades and signage at area intersections to alert travelers. Flaggers will also be present to inform motorists and assist them with determining the best path of travel. Knife River is the general contractor for both projects.
