Commissioner Races in Gooding & Lincoln There is only one contested race in Gooding County in this year’s general election. Both candidates for District Two Commissioner are from Hagerman and both have a long list of public service. David Maestas has served on Planning & Zoning boards for the City of Hagerman and Gooding County, as well as the Idaho Commission on Aging, Chairman for the Hagerman Senior Center, and Chairman of the Greater Twin Falls Area Transportation Committee. Medical indigency is a major issue for Idaho counties, and Mr. Maestas feels that fully implementing and supporting the Affordable Care Act would relieve some of that pressure. He is also concerned that noxious weeds are getting out of control in some areas. Our Ag based economy can’t afford to let that happen. Mark Bolduc was on the Hagerman City Council for two years, the Hagerman Highway District for ten years, and served on the Hagerman Fire & EMS Board for 31 years. He has also served on the boards for Southern Idaho Tourism, Partners in Healthcare, and the Hagerman Chamber of Commerce. With 30 years of business experience, Mr. Bolduc wants to encourage business, market the county’s assets, and save our public money while making sure we never compromising

the level of service that the citizens of Gooding County deserve. These two candidates will be at the Gooding County Museum on October 29th at 6 p.m. to present their platforms and answer questions. Cresley McConnell won his seat on the Lincoln County Board of Commissioner just two years ago. Since then he has been very active in serving as a liaison for the board to other community organizations such as the fair board and SIRCOMM. While it has been somewhat of a bumpy ride with legal challenges, Mr. McConnell wants to continue doing his best for Lincoln County. Keo Kelley is challenging Mr. McConnell for the District One seat. She currently works for Juvenile Probation services in Lincoln County and is the chairman of the Fair Board. This has given her a unique perspective of the problems our young people face, as well as the opportunities that are available to help them stay out of trouble. Lincoln County will have a “Pie & Politics” event on October 28th at 6 p.m. with the local politicians. more politics on page 5.....

Fairfield Water & Sewer
Tomorrow evening, October 16th, at 7 p.m. the Fairfield City Council will be considering changes to the city’s water and sewer rates. The proposed changes include an increase in the monthly water rate from $20 to $33 for both residential and commercial. In addition, the city wants to add an extra fee for monthly residential useage over 60,000 gal ($0.40 per 1000 gal) and business useage over 8000 gal ($2.50 per 1000). The idea behind this is that people who use more water should pay for that extra useage. On the sewer service side continued on page 7.....
