USDA Partners to Improve Community Infrastructure Senators Crush Wildcats 60-22

Press Release Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett recently announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $181 million in 88 projects to help build community infrastructure and facilities in 27 states. “Infrastructure is a foundation for quality of life and economic opportunity in small towns across our country,” Hazlett said. “Under the leadership of Secretary Sonny Perdue, USDA is committed to being a strong partner to building prosperity in rural America through modern infrastructure.” “USDA Rural Development continues to deliver on President Trump’s commitment to rebuild American infrastructure,” said Layne Bangerter, Idaho Rural Development State Director. “USDA Rural Development investments provide much needed access to modern infrastructure and services which are essential to the growth and prosperity in our rural Idaho communities.” Through the use of Community Facilities Direct Loan Program, the USDA is helping fund rural infrastructure improvements and provide essential facilities such as schools, libraries and day care centers. One area facility that is benifiting from this is the Wendell Senior Center. They are receiving a $9,800 loan and a $5,200 grant to complete funding for replacement of the roof at the senior center. Additional funding includes $60,966 in applicant contributions, a $59,000 Rural Development Community Facilities loan, a $30,000 Community Facilities grant, and $150,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding. More than 100 types of projects are eligible for Community Facilities funding.
