New Playground in Shoshone
Earlier this year, new playground equipment was installed in Shoshone’s Mary L Gooding Memorial Park (next to the Lincoln County Swimming Pool). The project was completed with volunteer labor and generous donations from community families and businesses. This Saturday, October 6th, there will be a Grand Opening of the Playground starting a 3:00 p.m. The event will include a ribbon cutting, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, and lessons on the recent installed Disc Golf Course. Disc (frisbee) Golf is an increasingly popular sport and the course was installed thanks to grant money from Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health. Come celebrete this great addition to the community.
Musher Girls Soccer Play Tough
Another exciting week of soccer play ended this Saturday for the three Musher girls soccer teams. The fifth and sixth grade team continued their league leading rampage with another shutout. The team cruised to a 4-nil victory over the Navy Blue Seals despite playing short handed. Kenley Olsen lead scoring for the Mushers with two goals, while Phoenix Ferraro and Gigi Weber scored one apiece. Net minders Elise Higbee, Hannah Swenson, and Kenley have yet to allow any goals this season. The first and second grade team lost two heart breaking games in another doubleheader day. In the first game, the team yielded at the last second of the game to lose 5-4. Tory Tupper gave a ferocious effort, scoring all four goals for the lil’ Mushers. The team took the field again for the second game, got behind early but came back in a valiant 4-3 losing effort. Tory tallied two goals and first grader Kimber Smith got one. The final game was the young third and fourth grade team who played an amazing 5 all tie against the Green Owls. The Mushers fell behind early but bounced back to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. The Owls tied the game early in the second half, then the scoring went back and forth to the final whistle. Ivy Ashmead’s 4 goal effort led the scoring for Camas.
