North Canyon Hardware New Council for Gooding
If you haven’t noticed the new hardware store next to Ridley’s in Gooding, you haven’t been looking. The old King’s building was purchased by Ridley’s Family Market and converted into a new hardware store. For those of you who have been missing Kings, the manager of North Canyon Hardware is a familiar face - Janice Jacobson. NCH carries everything you would expect from a hardward store - plumbing, electrical, key cutting, tools, etc. - as well as hunting and fishing supplies, camping equipment, canning supplies, Weber & Gooding City Council begins a new year with Colin Smith, Traeger BBQs, and much more. They also sell Stihl Vern France, Jeff Brekke, Chuck Cram & Mitch Arkoosh. and Craftsman powertools. Lockdown at Shoshone School
Press Release from Lincoln County Sheriff
Last Wednesday, January 17th, a report of a suspicious individual was reported by some students at Shoshone Schools. That report led to a “soft-lockdown” at the school and a thorough check of the area was conducted. No issues were discovered. Law enforcement from Shoshone PD, Idaho State Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were on scene almost immediately. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office
Student Resource Officer was at Shoshone Schools when the call originated. While responding to the call at the Shoshone Schools, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a one-vehicle roll-over crash. The deputy received very minor injuries and was not transported to a medical facility. The deputy was driving “code-3” which means the lights and sirens on the vehicle were activated and functioning. The deputy was wearing a seat-belt and the air-bags in the vehicle were deployed as a result of the crash.
Nelson and the council took care of a few last bits of business regarding the Water Project and heard a report on the Airport Improvement Project. A new Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) unit will soon be installed and the the non-directional beacon will be decommissioned effective May 24, 2018. After the opening business the City Clerk, Hollye Lierman, administered the Oath of Office to Jeff Brekke for mayor, along with Chuck Cram and Colin Smith for the council. Fire Chief Brandon Covey reported that the department responded to 335 calls in 2017 including two recent structure fires, car accidents, and multiple EMS calls. He added that they now have a new rescue truck and the department’s hazmat equipment has been put into a separate truck. Along with her monthly report, Library Director Cindy Bigler said the library has started a new challenge for 2018 - 50 Books in 50 Weeks. Public Works Director Larry Bybee gave the new council more information on various activities around town. He also said restitution has been made for the vandalism at the West Park. The Gooding City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Gooding Municipal Building. All meeting are open to the public.
