Keeping Fit in Lincoln County The Lincoln County Recreation District was established is 1972, for the sole purpose of supporting the Lincoln County Swimming Pool. Since then, however, the district has spread its wings to support other recreational activities in the Lincoln County community. In 2002 the Recreation District began offering other activities for the youth such as soccer, gymnastics, wrestling, flag football, and swim team. The Recreation District also opened a fitness facility located on the south end of Shoshone on the east side of Highway 93. Along with sponsoring several weight loss challenges and a men’s basketball league, their Zumba dance has been a huge success. The fitness facilities are available to residents and non-residents of Lincoln County on a pay-as-you-come basis, or you can buy a monthly or yearly pass. Punch card passes also available. On-going classes include Cardio/ Weight Fitness, Spinning Fitness, Zumba, Circuit training, as well as personal training. The fitness center is open most mornings and evenings. McDonald’s In Gooding Last Wednesday, the Gooding Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for Gooding’s newest business - McDonald’s. Located next to the new Valley Country Store at the south end of town, this is restaurant number ten for Bill Kyle, the owner of McDonald’s in the Magic Valley. In celebration of the grand opening, there were special meal prices, door prizes, and apperances by the Hamburgler and Grimmace. It has been fourty years since Mr. Kyle open his first McDonald’s in Twin Falls, and he is very confident that the Gooding location will only add to the success of his business. His son, Darren Kyle (Director of Operations), said that McDonald’s uses twenty percent of Idaho’s potato crop every year, and twenty percent of the beef in the U.S. He estimated that, in the the Magic Valley alone, they served at least 6 million sandwiches last year. Bill & Donna Kyle watch as their sons, Darren and Ryan, cut the ribbon at McDonald’s The Mayor of Gooding, Duke Morton, was on hand at the celebration to welcome the Kyle Family to the community on behalf of the city. He was very glad to see a new business adding to the economy of Gooding. “Gooding is not only a great place to live, it is a great place to do business.”
