Idaho will send 32 voting delegates to the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, which is more delegates than Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada. The Republicans in each county will hold their nomination process at a specific location on March 6th. Only registered Republicans will be able to vote at the Caucus. More details will follow in the coming months. “The Republican Party is excited for the opportunity to host this first-of-its-kind Republican Presidential Caucus in Idaho, and we invite all Republicans who reside in our state to participate in this historic event,” stated Chairman Norm Semanko. “It is truly an honor for the Republicans to have a say on who our 2012 Presidential nominee will be, and to which candidate Idaho will send its 32 delegates to support at the 2012 Republican National Convention.” For more information about the details of the Presidential Caucus, contact Idaho Republican Party Political Director, Trevor Thorpe, at 208-343-6405 or trevor@idgop.org.

Rural Emergency Medical Services Being a First Responder or an Emergency Medical Technician in our rural communities is often a thankless job. Most people never think about what these people do until they need them. In most places, 1st Responders and EMT’s volunteer their time to be on call nearly 24/7, but it doesn’t stop there. They have to keep up their training on a regular basis, to maintain their certifications. This year, many of these individuals (and the organizations they work with) will be required to transition to a new set of requirements in order to keep their licenses active. Beside filling out paper-
work, this transition will include the completion of approved course work. In some areas like Richfield, some of our volunteers are deciding not to make that transition. If an individual has put in 20 or 30 years (sometimes more), it may not be worth the time and/or money it takes to maintain an EMS license. No matter where you live, your community needs people who are willing to give their time and energy to help people in emergency situations. Who knows, the person you help may be a friend, a relative, or someone in your immediate family.
