Book Launch for Local Author at Heritage Library Kensington Heritage Library hosted a book launch for local author Rudy Croken for Ban the Automobile: Instrument of Death, on Saturday, May 13. A good number turned out for the event and the response was positive. Attendees enjoyed a meet and greet and the opportunity to hear highlights about the book from Mr. Croken. Ban the Automobile gives the unique perspec-
tive and opposition that many in East Prince had about the introduction of automobiles on Island roads from 1900 - 1919. The book provides the history, and issues on how the automobile’s future was viewed by rural residents on PEI. Mr. Croken noted that regardless of what side you took, the introduction of the automobile was the start of a major cultural revolution that would change Prince Ed-
ward Island society forever. Ban the Automobile can be purchased from
the author at (902-8363897) or at Murphy’s Pharmacy, Kensington.
