Happy Father’s Day- June 19th

June 8, 2016

Victoria Day Heritage Celebration in Victoria Approximately 90 residents and friends of Victoria turned out for a Victoria Day heritage celebration and pot luck luncheon at the old Victoria School on May 23. Local musicians Mike and Malcolm Stanley, along with Bruce Gough, entertained above the din of neighbourly chatter as the day progressed. A home made fudge contest drew a surprising 8 entries. Every crumb quickly self destructed after the judging! Prizes were awarded for the oldest and youngest attendees: Margaret Howatt Gallant, and Darien

Leger. Coincidentally, Margaret was pictured in a 1942 Victoria School group photo which was on display at her table. Other prizes were for a visitor from farthest away, (BC) and short snapper questions about Victoria. The day ended with a heritage trivia game hosted by local Trivia Master, Darin Craig, won by an awesome 2 member team, Bruce Gough and Dorece MacMillan. The event was organized by the Victoria Historical Association. The Community of Vic-

toria donated birthday cake for Queen Victoria, and Victoria WI provided dining supplies and two prizes.
