Scales Pond Dunk River Restoration Tree Planting Ceremony
L-R: David Scales, Ron Barrett and Alan McLennan.
On Thursday, August 15 members of the Scales Pond Dunk River Restoration Committee held a Tree Planting Ceremony at the International Children’s Memorial Place at Scales Pond. The day’s event served as a thank you to all who supported and contributed to the renovation, whether a monetary donation or an in-kind service and, the tree will serve as a longstanding symbol of the rebuilding of the dam for many years to come. Ron Barrett, Committee Co-chair welcomed George Webster, MLA District 19, invited guests and highlighted the progress of the project thus far. The goal of the committee, spearheaded by Minister Webster four years ago, was to work towards reinstating Scales Pond after the dam was breached in 2009. On behalf of the com-
