Kitchens are often the beating heart of a modern family home and the best kitchens are made bespoke for the people who will be using them. For some of the best money can buy, seek out Pineland Furniture, a well established family business making some of the finest solid wood units in the land and supplying them ready to fit, fuss-free.

“All our kitchens are bespoke, hand made here in the UK by skilled cabinet makers. All our wood is from sustainable sources, registered with the

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and there is a really big difference between what we sell and the synthetic kitchens produced by many of the well known suppliers. Pineland Furniture uses traditional carpentry and joinery methods to make individually designed fitted units which make the very most of the space available. While kitchens are a mainstay speciality of the business, it also produces the perfect units for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices and other spaces, as well as freestanding pieces of furniture. Started in 1987, Pineland Furniture has two sets of premises with both showrooms and manufacturing workshops where they design and make the furniture. One is in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire and the other in Northwich, Cheshire. Customers are strongly encouraged to visit the showrooms so they can see for themselves the quality and cleverness of the sample layouts, including features such as bi-fold and tri-fold doors and removable drawer inserts. Company Chairman, Edward Taylor says: “People are usually blown away by what they see!”

“We’ve been trading for more than 30 years and nowadays more than half our business comes from repeat customers.” Initially, it’s recommended that potential customers get in touch to request a Pineland brochure which details products and costs. To proceed, they send a rough plan with measurements and then have a personal appointment. There are no contracts or up-front payments and kitchens are generally supplied within eight to 12 weeks.

Nurture Nutrition Winter Wellness Autumn is truly upon us and as we find ourselves hurtling towards the festive season, this is the perfect time to consider how we might find ourselves in the best fettle to enjoy the frivolities. As a Nutritional Therapist I’d love to share my 3 top tips:

1. Sleep: In times gone by, we would have slept and woken according to the sun, now it’s all too easy to ignore our natural body rhythms and find ourselves burning the midnight oil. Not only essential for immune health but studies have also shown a link between poor sleep, weight gain, poor gut and brain health. Most expert agree optimum sleep is somewhere between 7-8 hrs. Diming the lights, avoiding screens for 1-2hr before bed, soaking in a Epsom Salt bath are all supportive interventions to ensure a good night’s sleep – your body will most certainly thank you! 2. Bin the sugar: Not only can this help banish afternoon energy slumps and optimise weight loss, but studies indicate that refined sugars can suppress your immune system for hours after eating. So, step back from those refined carbs and swap out the cereal for porridge, snack on nuts and grab a warming soup rather than a sarnie.

3. Eat a rainbow: Aim to eat a plethora of colour every day, focus on veg and fruit high in vitamins C, A, and phytonutrients that support the immune system. Opting for leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower), peppers, sweet potatoes, and squashes. Adding brightly coloured berries to morning porridge or pair with yoghurt sprinkled with nuts for a fantastic way to boost those allimportant nutrients to ensure winter wellness. Start today! My clients never cease to be amazed at how these small changes can have a significant impact on their well-being. Immune Health will be a focus on our next 10 week group: “Optimal Balance” ideal for weight loss and energy balance.
