As blue and yellow letters appear on the fence outside Scandia Elementary School, the Scandia Elementary Enrichment Foundation (SEEF) hopes passersby might wonder what they mean.
The letters are part of a fundraising and promotional project for the foundation, which was founded in 2001 to support the elementary school. “The business community and individuals in Scandia were looking at a long term commitment to our elementary school,” explains
founding member, treasurer and board member James Lindberg. “What we wanted to do was make something that would last for many years, be perpetual.” They settled on an endowment model. As the fund continues SEE ELEMENTARY, PAGE 2
After years of planning, the Scandia Veterans Memorial is nearly done. But even as the memorial takes form in Lilleskogen Park the need for donations continues, according to Scandia-Marine Lions Foundation President Dave Wilson. “It’s not completely paid for,” he explained, “and going forward we’re still going to be supporting veteran causes.” To give a bit of a push for fundraising, Meister’s Bar & Grill is planning a party and

Pappy’s in Stillwater, then across the new St. Croix Crossing to Osceola’s Tippy Canoe’s and back to Meister’s. All proceeds from the motorcycle ride will go to the memorial and the Scandia-Marine Lions Foundation will hold a raffle to raise funds. In addition to the ride, Meister’s will air the Vikings-Packers football game and organize a beanbag tournament. They’ve

the side of the museum. “Nosferatu” was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” (1897) but various names and other details were changed from the original novel. The film was dubbed a “sensation” by critics of the time and is considered the first classic vampire movie. Director Robert Eggers (“The Witch”) is set to direct a remake in 2019. This event is for all ages and is free. Families are encouraged to bring their children out for a movie night under the stars. Bring a chair, blanket, snacks and enjoy the show.
