Mural brightens up the

ver the past month, parts of the southwest region of North Dakota have experienced three to four times more rain than the usual average. According to the Nationa l We a t h e r S e r vice, the chance for above average precipitation will continue into S e p t e m b e r. eeks ago, a group of artistic individuals called the Friends of the Library volunteered their time and livened up the walls of the Bowman Library with a bright, sunflower mural. Just last week the volunteer painting group struck again with their painting prowess, this time at the Cedar Chest. The new mural on the back wall of the Cedar Chest depicts a clothesline full of miscellaneous clothes,
including dresses, a hat, and even socks. Cedar Chest President Jerri Storer said that the painting is not only a great addition to the Cedar Chest, but also a great depiction of what people can find at the thrift store. “It was a great idea for them to do that,” said Storer, “and it matches the store because we have everything: clothing, kettles, underwear — whatever.” According to volunteer painter Marie Snavely, when painting the new clothesline mural, the Friends
of the Library group was trying to represent the content and simplicity of thrift store while keeping a nostalgic feel. It was only after finishing the Bowman Library mural that the painting group started thinking about a new mural project. Snavely said that the Friends of the library dreamed up the idea for the new mural after looking at the blank walls of the thrift store. “Two group members looked
