Record Editor cbenz@countrymedia.net The Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawk football season ended with a semifinal loss to the North Prairie Cougars (110). The defense for HettingerScranton (8-3) performed admirably against a team that averaged 41 points-per-game throughout the regular season and playoffs, allowing only 20 points. But their offense got stuck, and the Night

Hawks could only put eight points on the board with a touchdown and 2-point conversion with less than one minute remaining. With the win, North Prairie will face the Region 1 No. 1 seed Richland High School (11-0) in the title game at the Fargodome. North Prairie set the tone early. In a surprise move, the Cougars opened the game with an onside kick and recovered the ball. After a touchdown by North Prairie, they tried some trick-

The Cougars got the ball back when quarterback Hudson Pierce, a junior, threw an interception, his first of two in the game. After the turnover, the Night Hawk defense held the line strong and forced a turnover on downs. The Cougars were relentless, though, and blocked the ensuing Night Hawk punt, giving them good

The Cougars would have possession of the ball as the first half was winding down, and Pfiefer kneeled to run out the clock. Each team was rendered scoreless in the third quarter.
