Record Editor cbenz@countrymedia.net A winner has come forward. A winning lottery ticket worth $6,000 was sold at Kennedy’s Fresh Foods in Hettinger. The manager said the store was notified Sunday of the sale of the winning ticket, and the winner didn’t have to go very far to claim his money, because he works there.

Rey Otteson purchased the ticket at his place of employment and waited for the drawing day. Having heard that the Wildcard 2 game may be ending— according to the North Dakota Lottery’s Facebook page, the Wild Card 2 game will be ending Feb. 24—he decided to try his hand in it. It paid off to the tune of $6,000. Otteson, who is originally from Pierre, S.D. and has lived in Hettinger since Ray Otteson said he purchases a lottery ticket weekly. And after winning $6,000 he said he will still probably play the game. WINNER | PAGE 2 (Photo by Cole Benz/The Record)
