It was a year to remember in Adams County. 2015 was a year of change, growth, excitement and wonderful festivities. Probably most significant to the area was the construction of a new wind turbine farm north of Hettinger. Allete Clean Energy started construction on the Thunder Spirit Wind Project late in the spring and are now just putting the final touches on the equipment. The first turbines started generating electricity in November. The view is quite incredible. Visible from miles away, the massive turbines will soon turn with one of the areas most

abundant commodities, wind. The power will be sold to the local co-op and will benefit many households. The tax benefit to the county should be a perk for years to come as well. West River Health Services also took a step forward for the patients they serve. in August they flipped the switch and turned on their first in-house Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. This was a big step in serving the area residents who frequent the healthcare facility. Prior to the new addition, which required an additional structure to house the machine, patients

ELECTION

This year’s Fourth of July celebration was the biggest yet. Booking Scranton native Kat Perkins as the headline was one of the biggest names in the history of the event. Many people came out for the annual festival. They enjoyed food, drinks music, conversation and fireworks. As we forward to next year, 2016 is already gearing up for another big year for Adams County. In Hettinger a new, large apartment complex is nearly complete. The structure will give the town and the county another great place for new families, outside workers and others to call home.

Another important part of the area’s commerce and community’s services is the West River Veterinary Clinic. They will open the doors to a new facility sometime in the late spring. The facility is tremendously larger, and with a service radius of nearly 100 miles, pet and livestock owners will be happy to see their care takers operating in such outstanding and state-of-the-art facilities.

would be forced to schedule their scans based on the availability of the mobile scanner rented by the hospital. And more so to the issue was the fact that patients would be forced to venture out into the elements to get an image taken. Now with the new addition, patients can enjoy the comfort of a new machine equipped with state-of-the-art technology and more comfort amenities for those with space anxiety. It was definitely a community effort, the foundation received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations towards the project. Funds are still being donated to the cause.

They had a chance to tie the game with less than a minute to go but, Sam Kludt blocked a close in shot by Teigen which more than likely saved the game from being tied. The Ranchers got the ball back with 10 seconds left but could not get off a good shot. Kludt was having a problem finding his shooting touch but his blocked shot was definitely one of the key moments for the
