s a leader in Arts Education, our goal is to continue offering programs that challenge, inspire and provide each student with professional quality training.

The implementation of our syllabus and assessment program in the Fall of 2011 has proven to be helpful in refining our curriculum to ensure that each student is given ample opportunity to grow, mature and excel in his chosen genre of theatre arts. e have designed Two Tier Levels of Curriculum The theatre arts areas of concentration are: 1. Vocal 2. Dramatics 3. Musical Theatre 4. TV/Film Tiers Three and Four will be implemented in the Spring of 2013

• Understands the parts of the body that come into play to produce sound and singing • Understands basic “jargon” used in the training of singers • Understands the importance of good diction and breath control - Demonstrated through classroom work, vocal warm-ups, group and solo singing

PERFORMANCE/ INTERPRETIVE SKILLS • Student has basic understanding of character as related to musical genre

- Demonstrates an understanding of the meaning and the mood of song lyrics

• Student has basic understanding of the Who, What, When, Where and Why of character development within the song • Student is developing an ear for pitch and understands the meaning of tempo, volume and projection as it relates to performance

• Student has an understanding of terminology (dramatics, dance, vocal) • Is able to correctly identify a majority of the words from the syllabus provided by classroom teacher • Student has basic understanding of stage techniques and skills - Demonstrated through classroom work, scenes, simple choreography as related to vocal selections

• Student demonstrates an understanding of diction, projection and breath control - Assessed by observation of cold readings, enunciation exercises and oral presentations, group and solo singing

• Begins to understand the need to know the Who, What, Why, When and Where of character development within the context of a scene, play, and/or monologue - For example, the student would be able to answer the

following questions about his character. Physical description (most simplistic level of characterization): how old, what gender, how big, how does he/she walk, talk and other external traits - The next layering of character would be to understand how this character fits into society or is seen by others
