Career Guidance and Career Counselling in Gurgaon Career counseling is an integral part of education in almost all progressive schools of Gurgaon. Career awareness sessions for students are conducted from class VIII or IX onwards where children are given exposure to visit places like TERI, visiting industry, hotels, hospitals, educational institutions etc., to have first hand exposure of the working of these places. They are also involved in various career games to orient them to the world of careers. From class Xth onwards, students are exposed to various career options in Science, Commerce and Humanities. Opportunities in various fields and careers are discussed on regular basis and queries of children are answered so that they can make an informed decision in class XIth. Earlier engineering and medicine were considered to be the only career options but in recent times there are plethora of career choices available, be it management, Law or design and one of the upcoming career options which is attracting young generation is that of hospitality industry. Career opportunities exist in such diverse sectors as travel and tourism, journalism, Event management, recreation and leisure, gaming, Entertainment, Designing and Mass communication etc. A student writes, “When I was in high school, I wanted to play professional basketball. This was quite a lofty aspiration, and I knew that if I worked hard enough, I could do it. However, I had to take a step back and realize that my abilities didn’t quite match my love of the game. So, through self-exploration, I eventually found where my abilities and interests intersected to find my dream career.”
