he line in front of the Wilkins Theatre stretched back towards the residence halls as students anxiously waited for the doors to open to let them inside. Many could be heard humming and singing some of their favorite songs from two very prominent artists – one, a four-album renowned hip-hop and rap musical veteran and the other a young, eagerly anticipated group, quickly coming up in the R&B charts. It was close to a mad rush to get past the front and inside doors, but once all the tickets were ripped and seats found, Kean University students restlessly waited for the annual Unity Week concert’s featured artists, Day 26 and Ludacris. uring this time of the year, Student Organization elections are not the only ones going on. There are also elections taking place for a very important position on campus that most students have little knowledge know of. The election for the alternate student trustee on the Board of Trustees is also taking place. This is a two year position where the winner will be the alternate student trustee for one academic year and then the voting student trustee the following year. This year, there are two candidates running for this prestigious position: Sophomore finance and economics double major Rick Brandt and senior management science major Scott Herman. Scott Herman is a resident assistant in Sozio Hall and current president of Student Organization of Kean University. After Scott graduates in May, he is planning on enrolling in the Global MBA Program at the Nathan Weiss Graduate College. When asked why they wanted to run for this position Rick said, “I am running for this position because I want to give back to the Kean community. I would like to contribute to the decision making process hear at Kean University. On top of that, I would like to educate myself and fellow students about how the university operates as a whole.” Scott said, “As alternate trustee, I will have the opportunity to continue to serve the students and the university. I intend to voice all student concerns to the Board of Trustees, as well as the positive aspects of life on campus.” When asked what three specific things “I believe the entire student body they would like to achieve if elected as student trustee, both candidates had deserves a representative that can relate solid answers. ttention students! It’s that time of year again – time to register for fall classes. Graduating seniors, you luck out, but for everyone else, make sure you are prepared. With Kean’s “Blue Goes Green” campaign, registration booklets are a thing of the past. Beginning with the fall of 2009, the registration bulletin will only contain information about the registration process, withdrawal and refund procedures, academic deadlines, and general information. Complete course schedule information will now be found online. In addition, information regarding course prerequisites and university policies appear in the university catalog which can be also found on-line. To find courses being offered for the upcoming fall semester, log onto keanWISE and click on “Search For Sections”. Registration opens on Tuesday, April 7 for eligible scholars with a GPA of 3.85 and graduate students. For all other students, registration is based according to the number of credits completed. Late registration will take place from September 3 until September 9. Remember to meet with
