chool is officially back in session and you have a lot to look forward to this semester. Yes, that’s right, it’s that time again! On January 31, 2007, Kean University’s Greek Senate presents Meet the Greeks. What better way to start a new year and a new semester than with an exciting day of hanging out with the KU Greeks? This is the time where

Greeks and non-Greeks get together for a day packed with music, fun, and fellowship. If you were at last semester’s Meet the Greeks, you know that there’s every reason to be excited. All those who were not in attendance, you are in luck because you are definitely in for a treat. Seeking membership into a Greek organization is a good thing and something that many students look forward to when they come to college. There are a variety of fraternities and sororities such as Sigma Lambda Gamma, Phi Beta Sigma, Nu Delta Pi, and many others all unique in their own way who are committed to service, scholarship, and brotherhood/sisterhood. In previous years, the event has consisted of information tables where students seize the opportunity to get to know the members of the organization of their choice and music by world famous DJ Nix-In-The-Mix. No Meet the Greeks would be complete without the highly anticipated dance/stroll exhibition where Greeks from different organizations can step out to show off their moves. It’s one of the most exciting events of the year, so make sure you’re in the building. It’s going down from 2:00pm-4:30pm in the University Center and 7:00pm-9:00pm in Downs Hall. So don’t miss out! Mark your calendars because this is an event you will not want to miss. Whitney Nichole Stevens, senior Journalism major, is a member of The Cougar’s Byte.

Taking public transportation may seem like a drag in the winter
he experience of a college student involves more than struggling to keep their eyes open in class or even the rush to be first in the pasta line. There is a lot more these individuals need to do to make it through the day which also includes being involved on campus and attending events that are highlighted in bulletins, flyers and such. Among the many ways that Kean students can be involved on campus includes being a Resident Assistant (R.A.) for the Office of Residence Life, a very prestigious position bestowed to those students who actually make the cut.
another opportunity for prospective positions; a chance for interested students to make their dreams come true. Applications are already available, and those with their eye on the position should take time to retrieve it from the Office of Residence Life. This time around, the application requires the applicants submit documents such as their resume, cover letter and also three letters of recommendation. After the applications are received, a committee reviews them to pick out that the ones they perceive to be more qualified for the position. n the heart of winter, what’s the first thing you do when you wake up? If you’re like most commuters you look out the window to see if it’s snowing. If the sky shows no sign of precipitation, your next move will probably be to check the weather to see if it is suppose to snow at any point in the day. Your best bet is to sign on to the Kean website to get up to date information on a possible school closing or class cancellations. If signed up with Rave Wireless, you probably already have an alert on your cell phone waiting for you when you wake up.
