Red Cross Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR Basic one-day course designed to introduce caregivers to injury prevention skills and knowledge. Course covers lifesaving first aid skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and AED) for children and babies. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial early childhood education and day care worker safety requirements. Course includes a three-year certification. Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR-C Comprehensive first aid and CPR techniques for those who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace or at home. This course covers a variety of topics from basics such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR-C and prevention of disease transmission, to in-depth topics such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine. Red Cross Advanced Wilderness First Aid Comprehensive first aid and CPR techniques for those who need a higher level of training to work and respond to emergencies in isolated or wilderness settings. This 40-hour course covers material in Standard First Aid and CPR plus advanced strategies for providing extended care for more than 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Course includes three-year certification in Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid, CPR Level C and AED. Note: A minimum of 20 hours is taught outdoors; dress for the weather. Red Cross Wilderness First Aid This 20-hour Wilderness and Remote First Aid covers material in Standard First Aid and CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. Course also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Suitable for those who work or live in remote locations or who are outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Note: Over 25 percent of the course is taught in a non-urban setting; dress for the weather. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Recertification This four-hour AED training is for those people whose duty is to respond to cardiac arrest at their facility. Typically, security guards, ski patrollers, lifeguards, loggers and other people whose job description includes emergency response are logical candidates for this course. Training will be specific to the AED on your worksite. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that is valid for one year. Prerequisite: Current WorkSafeBC OFA Level 1 or equivalent.
