FIRST AID AND SAFETY FIRST AID Occupational First Aid Level 3 The ultimate course in first aid! Recognized in both Alberta and BC, this course prepares you to take on the responsibilities of the first aid attendant providing emergency care in your industry and covers a variety of emergency medical techniques. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Course includes three-year certification in Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid, CPR Level C and AED. Note: A minimum of 20 hours is taught outdoors; dress for the weather.

Red Cross Wilderness First Aid This 20-hour Wilderness and Remote First Aid covers material in Standard First Aid and CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Recertification This four-hour AED training is for those people whose duty is to respond to cardiac arrest at their facility.

Typically, security guards, ski patrollers, lifeguards, loggers and other people whose job description includes emergency response are logical candidates for this course. Training will be specific to the AED on your worksite.

Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that is valid for one year.

Out of Jurisdiction A licensed Emergency Medical Responder or higher level of EMA Licensure (EMR through CCP) may be issued an OFA 3 certificate upon completion of an Out of Jurisdiction package. Candidate must submit a copy of their EMA Paramedic License for verification by the EMALB on or before registration. This replaces the previous Paramedic in Industry certification. An OFA Statement of Fitness and Out of Jurisdiction Certification application must also be filled out and signed.

Mental Health First Aid Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trained employees will be equipped to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and provide help to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis, including those related to substance use. The course will also work on reducing the stigma around mental illness and create mental wellness within the workplace. SAFETY Basic Fall Protection This eight-hour course includes theory and practical application exercises to introduce the student to standards for fall protection which meet or exceed both Alberta and BC Occupational Health and Safety standards. This program teaches all core concepts of fall protection from a regulatory and standards perspective, including: fall protection requirements for workers and employers, hierarchy of fall protection, methods of hazard identification, examining various fall protection and fall arrest systems, equipment care and maintenance, and understanding the ABCs of a personal fall protection system. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of anchorages, body support and connectors, as well as an introduction into rescue basics, including selfrescue and assisted rescue.

Chainsaw Operator Course Learn the basics of chainsaw operation, safety and maintenance. This two-day course covers the proper safety gear needed, safe work procedures, daily maintenance of chainsaw and/or brush saw, small diameter tree falling, bucking and limbing, cleaning and inspection of saw, minor troubleshooting and chain filing. Come prepared to use equipment. Theory and field exams will be conducted. Certification provided with successful completion of course. Chainsaws and all equipment are supplied.

OUTDOORS NEW! Outdoor Adventure Photography We are very fortunate in the Columbia Valley to have such an abundance of amazing subject matter to work with!

This workshop will focus on taking and making stunning outdoor photos. Different techniques for capturing those views, along with ways to approach your creative interpretation and pre-visualization will be discussed during two-evening class sessions, before going out to spend a day in the field. We will also cover processing and how to effectively display your work. He is a Wilderness First Aid Instructor with the Canadian Red Cross; and Wilderness Travel and Survival Instructor with Voshaar Outdoors, in Holland. He currently works with his wife’s company, Mahikan Trails, teaching Indigenous skills of the land.

Dave’s skills have been used by the world of entertainment where he has worked on several TV productions, one Walt Disney film, and more recently, as a survival consultant on the History Channel’s Alone TV series. He has written several articles for local and International outdoor magazines and is currently working on a survival book where he is echoing on the skills, and lessons, he has learned as a survival instructor, and guide.

Intro to Paragliding One of the fastest growing aviation sports! Learn this exciting recreational activity in a fun and safe teaching environment. Instructor Max Fanderl of www.flyingmax.com has been involved in paragliding since 1987 and has worked as a paragliding instructor and test pilot for various paragliding manufacturers throughout the world.
