We invite you to start or continue a lifelong love for music! COME SEE WHERE THE MUSIC CAN TAKE YOU! A career in music can be immensely fulfilling and provides you with important skill sets to help you succeed in a variety of career paths. WE MEET YOU AT YOUR SKILL LEVEL. Whether you’re a beginner or already a practicing musician, we invite students of all backgrounds and skill levels to build their foundations in the art and practice of music. Our audition process will help you assess your entry point to developing as a musician.

Kurt Erickson is an award-winning composer with works performed all across the globe. He wants to help you develop your creativity and innate musicality, whether that’s playing the piano or creating new music in CRC’s Composers Ensemble.


Professor Omari Tau has performed in Broadway tours, symphony orchestras, and in commercial music across America. He strives to inspire you to not only sing with technical skill, but to also dig deep into the artistic and emotional expression of each piece.

Our Applied Lesson program is one of the few programs in the California Community Colleges where students receive no-cost lessons with renowned performing artists. Any music major can audition into the program and receive access to first-rate music instruction in:

Prepare to transfer to a 4-year university We have a proven track record of preparing our students to transfer to top-notch music schools, colleges, and conservatories. Maxwell Keisner brings out the best musician in every student as he directs CRC’s Concert Band and Jazz Bands. An esteemed educator, Maxwell taught at Rio Americano for 12 years, one of the top high school music programs in the country.


Lisa Beebe loves to introduce her students to the diverse music traditions from cultures all around the world. Lisa is an ethnomusicologist who specializes in Vietnamese music, Baroque performance, and plays the viola da gamba.

Composers Ensemble Bring your own musical creations to the live stage in our Composers Ensemble. You will get help creating a composition portfolio for transferring to a university.


Advance from classroom to performing on-stage CRC offers a full array of music ensembles for you to practice hands-on vocal and instrumental performance skills. Students become well-versed in traditional and modern genres, performing before live audiences throughout the academic year. We want to support you in making your own music, regardless of genre or pedigree. Music production has changed, and we are here to meet the needs of non-traditional musicians, including DJ’s, producers, and emcees, and musicians trained in other forms of non-western music performance.

Concert & Jazz Bands Our Concert Band brings instrumentalists of all experiences together in an approachable and engaging atmosphere. You’ll also have the chance to learn improvisational styles in CRC’s Jazz Band or our New Orleans Second Line Brass Band.


Vocal Ensembles Singing has never been more fun! Bring to life a range of rich choral music in our College Chorus and Chamber Singers. Celebrate the soul-filling energy and heritage of African-American music in the only Contemporary Gospel Choir course in the region.

Orchestra Rarely in a community college do you have the ability to perform in a full orchestral ensemble. Our Orchestra provides a platform for ensemble members and soloists to learn both historically important repertoire and modern favorites.
