The channel has agreed a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution to end its association with Friends in autumn 2011. Jules desperately doesn’t want to be one of them, but with an ugly divorce behind her and 40 staring right back at her, she’s longing for a little more action in her life. The available men her own age, like her silver fox of a neighbor, Grayson Ellis, only seem interested in dating barely legal hotties which is awkward considering he’s also her teenage son Tad’s therapist. Egged on by her very married and very irreverent best friend Elle and her determined assistant Laurie, Jules reluctantly dips her toe back into the dating pool. To her surprise, she hits it off with a nice young guy named Bobby emphasis on the young and discovers this gal still has the goods. Co-executive produced by Courteney Cox and Bill Lawrence (Scrubs), Cougartown is the single-camera comedy that dares to tell the truth about dating after divorce. The Grand National 2010 Runs on Saturday 10th April The Grand National is England’s most prestigious horse race and one of the worlds greatest sporting spectacles. Each year 40 horses line-up to tackle the awesome Aintree course. Four & half miles, with 30 fence jumps, the Grand National is arguably the toughest test of horse and jockey in the world. Much of the Nationals appeal lies in the difficulty of the race itself and with such a grueling course the chances of a favourite winning are pretty slim! This just makes it more fun for those of us who stick a £5 each-way bet on one of the long shots.

In the last one hundred years only 11 favourites have actually won the Grand National. In recent years the fences have been tamed a little to protect the horses and jockeys from serious injury but, despite this, it is still one of the most open races in the sport. The Grand National is all about long shots and most people are happy to stick a couple of quid on a horse who’s name or number they like. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this because picking a winner in the Grand National is notoriously difficult and that’s why most professional gamblers don’t wager serious money on this race. riginally published in 1865, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland written by Charles Dodgson under the nom de plume Lewis Carroll, has been enthralling children and adults.
Many would haveread about her adventures, but for the majority of people, I would imagine their first taste came in the 1951 Disney animated feature. Now Tim Burton has taken the helm to bring a new Alice to an entirely new generation of audience. Set a few years on from the original story, Alice is now 19-years old and is an outsider in the stuffy Victorian society she has been bought up in. A dreamer like her late father, she constantly thinks about a world which is full of talking animals and where anything is possible.

www.costadirectory.com With an impending proposal from a stuffy lord on the horizon, Alice does what every normal girl would - run after a white rabbit in a blue coat and fall down a magical rabbit hole. We’ve all done it. A sequel of sorts to the original book, and taking on elements of Through The Looking Glass and the original source material, Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland is, at its best, a magical, spectacular, grand vision of the world of Wonderland brought to vibrant life with the use of CGI and 3D, I can’t imagine any other techniques bringing the Wonderland of Tim Burton’s imagination to life. Looking at it, it just breathes the style of Burton. The landscape looks like it could have come out of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and his use of colour is both visually engaging and engrossing. You find your eyes constantly wandering to see something you might have missed. Such is the detail and wonderment of the world created entirely through CGI effects here. Taking the lead role in such a production is a heavy burden for any actor but newcomer Mia Wasikowska fills the role of Alice with such ease you would think she had been playing her all her life.

She manages to play the role with enough innocence to be believable and enough strength to be able to pull off the obstacles put in her way. Most of all, she is not annoying, which was my issue with the original Disney cartoon. Of course, all the attention falls on Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter and I am pleased to say both he and Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen manage to rein in their performances in roles that could have become very overpowering very quickly. Depp takes the Hatter and makes him more human, his madness coming in waves and taking things a bit darker than previous incarnations. He skips from happy go lucky to a bit of a Scottish William Wallace warrior with ease, and delivers another slightly different role to his hardly-unimpressive filmography. As for The Red Queen, Bonham Carter plays the role as a spoilt brat, wanting everything to go her way, otherwise off with your head. Her sidekick The Knave of Hearts (Crispin Glover) stole the show for me villain-wise, and in some ways I feel he should have been an extension of her, rather than his own standalone character.
Anne Hathaway brings a saintly glow to her White Queen, angelic with a hint of something a bit more sinister (after all, she does come from the same gene pool as The Red Queen) but fawns around the set suitably well. Supporting roles are filled with a veritable who’s who of British vocal talent with Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat, Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar, Michael Sheen as The White Rabbit, Christopher Lee as The Jabberwocky and good old Barbara Windsor as The Dormouse. Personally, I warmed a lot to the casting of Matt Lucas in the dual roles of Tweedledee and Tweedledum. As well as being funny and happily stealing any scenes he appears in, Lucas manages to make the rather creepy characters become completely not creepy at all and, in fact, rather endearing. Alice In Wonderland sees Burton back on on his game. For his Alice is a fun, endearing and magical movie at its best, and one well worth seeking out. It’s not perfect, certainly, but Burton’s trip to Wonderland is a welcome one, indeed. Was there a time in your career where you felt like you were in Wonderland? Johnny Depp: “Yeah, the whole ride. My whole ride, the experience on the ride since day one has been pretty surreal in this business, and defies logic. I’m still completely shocked that I still get jobs and am still around. But, more than anything, it has been a kind of wonderland. I’ve been very lucky.” Of all the films you’ve done, which of your films is your children’s favorite? Johnny Depp: “My children’s favorite, and it’s funny because they’ve seen it but they have a difficult time watching it because it’s their dad and they make that connection, but Edward Scissorhands is, by far my kids’ favorite. They just connect with the character, and they see their dad feeling that isolation, that loneliness.
The Mad Hatter has a great happy dance in the film, and one of the earmarks of a really great happy dance is that it’s completely unique to the person. Is this part of your own personal repertoire? Johnny Depp: “No. The happy dance was something that Tim had a very curious vision for.” [Tim Burton: “It has to be the right circumstance, the right music and everything else.”] Johnny Depp: “Then I can Futterwack with the best of them. We had to treat that like a stunt.” [Tim Burton: “He likes to keep his Futterwacking private, like we all do.”] With no more Keira Knightley or Orlando Bloom in Pirates #4, will there be more Jack Sparrow? Johnny Depp: “Yeah, there is no Keira or Orlando in there. I don’t know. I don’t think we’d ever throw too much Jack Sparrow in there. There will be just a little bit of everybody.”

All pensions are designed to give you an income in retirement; it is as simple as that, however some pension funds of £25,000 for example, would not provide sufficient income for a family to live on. Because all fund sizes and benefits may be different, each client should be treated on an individual basis.

It may be the case that to take benefits early would not be the correct solution, for example certain Government pensions with guaranteed annuity rates may be best left alone. Most QROPS providers will offer the same benefits as you would receive by leaving your pension where it is i.e. 25% tax free cash and an income for life that would be taxed. In my opinion, the only benefit of doing this would be to receive your benefits early and you would have to pay for the privilege. As there are in excess of 6,000 QROPS providers available, which one do you choose to maximise the benefits you receive? In summary, “anyone aged between 18 and 75 years of age who is living outside the UK and has a frozen personal or company pension in the UK is eligible to transfer their whole pension fund, tax free; via QROPS” (the state pension cannot be done). Example a person of 50 years of age with a fund value of £100,000 Benefits that would be received under normal circumstances £25,000 tax free cash £218.75 per month minus tax £54.69 is equal to a net pension per month of £164.06 Benefits that could be taken if transferred via QROPS £25,000 tax free cash £75,000 invested and a tax free income taken of £500.00 per month With a QROPS pension not only do you save 25% in tax but you will never suffer the exchange rate trap again. The above is based upon a fund of £100,000, imagine what your pension would be if you have a fund value of £25,000 or £50,000? Very simply you would receive a ¼ or ½ of the figures above. Pensions in the UK are in turmoil and you as an individual must protect your income in retirement by transferring your benefits via QROPS. British Airways recently announced a £3.7 Billion deficit in their final salary pension scheme. Many final salary schemes have been axed; IBM, BA and many more no longer offer these benefits.
