news SHA celebrates 30 years with launch of Evolution Executive head, Dave Honeyman (left) and underwriting executive Simon Colman (right) from SHA Underwriting Specialists.

Hollard has announced its purchase of long-time partners, Aquarius Underwriting Managers and Execuline Motor Underwriting Managers.

CEO, Gary Corke

In celebration of 30 years, Stalker Hutchison Admiral (SHA) Specialist Underwriters announced the launch of its new Evolution product offering, which is set to change the way South African small and medium businesses (SMEs) obtain broad liability cover. Evolution provides instant access to a wide range of liability products, experts and quotes at the touch of a button. Evolution is a three-pronged product suite, blending wide cover, a high tech sales tool and an instant quoting engine. “SHA is well known for its innovative solutions in the corporate and complex risk space, but this new product offering will fill a current market gap by providing smaller businesses, which are fast becoming the driving force behind South Africa’s economy, with the specialist cover they require,” says Gary Corke, CEO of SHA Specialist Underwriters. Simon Colman, underwriting executive responsible for the development of the initiative, says the new offering sees the introduction of advanced technology to deliver consistent and immediate professional support in the SME sector while freeing up technical expertise in the organisation to deal with more complex and

unique risks. He says that Evolution product offering addresses this issue by providing businesses with an affordable cover that speaks to traditional liability risks such as public liability, product liability, employers liability, copyright and advertising liability, but also takes 21st century risks into account, such as product recall, gradual pollution, labour problems and cybercrime, to name a few. “Evolution is the next generation of broad form liability cover. In order to roll Evolution out successfully, the process is therefore supported by two ground-breaking online applications namely CLIQ and the Pocket Underwriter,” says Colman. Corke adds that in the 30-year period in which SHA Specialist Underwriters has been trading, the organisation has grown to become the largest UMA in Africa with a staff compliment of 135 motivated specialists and a premium income in excess of R1.3 billion. “We attribute our significant growth over the past 30 years to keeping our ear on the ground, enabling us to stay in touch with emerging needs in the industry, which is why we chose to invest in Evolution as one of our major future initiatives,” Corke concludes.

“Aquarius and Execuline have established themselves as leading providers of personal lines solutions to wealthier clients and the integration of the businesses will allow us to approach the affluent market with a consolidated offering under the Hollard banner. This is a very demanding market segment, but the experience and expertise of the Aquarius and Execuline businesses will ensure that the Hollard offering meets the most exacting of standards. This is a big and important step for us in our quest to ensure that our personal lines offering spans the full market,” said Hollard’s managing director of personal lines, Willem Smith. Both Drew Schnehage, managing director of Aquarius and Alan Eustice, managing director of Execuline will become part of Hollard’s management team. Schnehage will head up the affluent market product and broker consultant teams, and Eustice will head up Hollard’s middle market product team, as well as representing Hollard as motor expert in all industry matters. The Aquarius and Execuline broker teams will continue to provide personal service delivery to all of Hollard’s brokers. “We would like to assure you of our continued support and trust that our relationship with you will continue to go from strength to strength,” Smith concluded.
